Choosing Colour
Sometimes the hardest step in painting is deciding what colours to choose!
If you're looking to try something new but don't know where to start, try working through these 3 questions:
- What mood do you want to convey?
Poring through fashion & design magazines and online photo galleries can help pinpoint the mood that most inspires you.
- What colour palettes inspire you?
Colours you love could come from a beautiful silk-screened paper, or even a vintage scarf. Start to gather a collection of photos or real items that inspire you. Put them all together to see what colour patterns emerge. With colour inpiration, anything goes!
- What furnishings and accessories will be in the space?
Gather colour samples of what items will be in the space – bedding and window treatments for example. Include the colour of a dinner plate you love, or start with a sofa. Add a vase, side chair or floor lamp to create your own personal mix.
