Frequently Asked Questions
How do I switch from latex to oil?
Very easily! You can either use oil primer or our best latex, all purpose primer – Fresh Start. Once you've primed, you can paint with any of our latex paints. Make sure you do all the proper preparation before painting!
Do I have to prime?
Well, that all depends. If your walls are stained, or your switching from oil to latex, and sometimes if you're changing from a deep rich colour to a light colour, you should prime. If you're painting over latex with another latex, all you really need to do is clean and lightly sandy the surface. Our new Aura paint is self priming and may save you a step!
What sheen should I use on my bathroom walls?
A pearl or semi-gloss finish is always best on bathroom walls. It will protect better against high humidity and it a durable finish. Our newest product is Aura Bath & Spa.
Can I get away with doing one coat?
Two coats are always recommended. The first coat will sometimes cover and look good, but with a second coat you have a much nicer looking and complete wall. Two coats will end up lasting longer and give you the true colour you're looking for.
How many gallons will I need to finish my room?
Premium paint usually covers around 450 square feet per gallon (depending on colour). Check out our paint calculator to determine how much paint you will need! |
